Over 50 adults and numerous children packed into St Leonard’s Church Sheepstor on Good Friday for a service in preparation for a walk up Sheepstor to erect our large wooden cross to overlook Burrator Reservoir for the Easter Weekend. Earlier in the day 20 pilgrims had set out from Princetown to walk to Sheepstor, a journey of over 6.5 miles, stopping on route to pray.
This year’s walk was marked by a lamb rescue: it had managed to somehow become separated from its mother but it was reunited when some of our number lifted it over the fence.
The weather may have been dull, but it was dry, and spirits were lively as we all enjoyed the walk, and the soup and hot cross buns on our return to Sheepstor.
